Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,
PowerSchool, our District’s Student Information System (SIS), the global software reporting system Capitan Municipal Schools, as well as many other Districts’ in our state use for maintaining our student data, reported a breach in their security on January 7, 2025. While speculations have been made, PowerSchool has not made any official statement as to the scale of the breach or which school districts have been affected.
Our district’s IT (information technology) Department is working with our state-sponsored departments and PowerSchool to gain knowledge about the totality of this breach. When Capitan Municipal Schools gains further information, we will share it with each of you.
